The Summerland Kinsmen Disc Golf Course recently hosted its inaugural sanctioned tournament, marking a significant milestone for the sport in the region. This event, part of the British Columbia Women's Series, showcases the growing popularity of disc golf among women and the efforts to promote inclusivity and participation. The series, organized by women for women, aims to foster a supportive environment for women and junior girls to engage with disc golf, offering a unique trophy-only format. Despite the course being under construction, the red tee pads and signage were ready for the tournament, providing a functional playing area. The project includes essential infrastructure such as 49 parking stalls, baskets, cement pads, and a kiosk, along with planned parking improvements. The Penticton Disc Golf Club is responsible for maintaining this free-to-play, publicly accessible course, ensuring its upkeep and accessibility for all enthusiasts. This development highlights the increasing interest in disc golf and the efforts to create inclusive spaces for players of all backgrounds, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie in the sport.
